And once again, “The whole world is watching” - just as it was in 1968, when that phrase, chanted by anti-Vietnam War demonstrators as they were beaten and arrested by Chicago police outside the Democratic National Convention, was carried into our living rooms, broadcast on national TV from taped footage on the night of Wednesday, August 28. I was a teenager, my grandfather was an old man - we watched it together and were each shocked, I’m sure, in our own deeply troubled way.
